Former President Donald Trump delivered a harsh critique of Vice President Kamala Harris regarding her performance in her initial sit-down interview, which took place a month after she announced her presidential campaign.
In a lively town hall event hosted by former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), now an independent, Trump criticized the presentation and impact of Harris’s interview with CNN anchor Dana Bash.
“She was sitting behind a desk doing this interview. And I said, ‘Dana Bash, you could make yourself big tonight — all you have to do is be fair,’” Trump said.
“She was sitting behind that desk – this massive desk – and she didn’t look like a leader to me. I’ll be honest, I don’t see her negotiating with President Xi of China. I don’t see her with Kim Jong Un like we did with Kim Jong Un. So we’re going to have to see what happens,” he added.
In the interview, Harris asserted that her stance on major U.S. issues “has not changed.” However, it is important to highlight that while she previously criticized Trump’s border wall construction, she now states she would support a bipartisan bill to continue building the wall to prevent illegal immigration.

During her speech at the DNC, Harris said, “I know the importance of safety and security, especially at our border. I will bring back the bipartisan border security bill that [Trump] killed and I will sign it into law.”
“I think the most important and most significant aspect of my policy perspective and decisions is my values have not changed,” Harris said during the interview.
She also reaffirmed her backing for the Green New Deal advocated by the left.
“You mentioned the Green New Deal. I have always believed and — I’ve worked on it — that the climate crisis is real, that it is an urgent matter to which we should apply metrics that include holding ourselves to deadlines around time,” Harris said.
The CNN interview was Harris’s first since announcing her presidential campaign on July 21, and she was accompanied by her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D).
On Truth Social, Trump ridiculed Harris for speaking “incoherently” during the interview and for asserting that her values had not changed.
“Her answer rambled incoherently, and declared her ‘values haven’t changed.’ On that I agree, her values haven’t changed,” Trump said.
“America will become a WASTELAND!” he added, referring to how the country would look like if Harris becomes president in November.
The CNN interview with Bash followed her moderation of the presidential debate between President Joe Biden and Trump in June.
Trump has praised Bash and CNN anchor Jake Tapper for their handling of the debate.
Trump is set to debate Harris on September 10, with ABC News hosting the event, which Trump has criticized as a “hostile network.”
Recently, ABC News rejected the Harris campaign’s request to mute microphones throughout the debate, marking a win for Trump, as reported by Resist the Mainstream.
