Trump Inauguration To Be Moved Indoors

Due to concerns over freezing temperatures, officials have decided to move President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next week indoors.

Trump announced on social media that the swearing-in ceremony will now take place inside the U.S. Capitol Rotunda.

“It is my obligation to protect the People of our Country, but before we even begin, we have to think of the Inauguration itself,” Trump stated. “The weather forecast for Washington, D.C., with the windchill factor, could take temperatures into severe record lows.”

“There is an Arctic blast sweeping the Country. I don’t want to see people hurt, or injured, in any way,” he added. “It is dangerous conditions for the tens of thousands of Law Enforcement, First Responders, Police K9s and even horses, and hundreds of thousands of supporters that will be outside for many hours on the 20th. (In any event, if you decide to come, dress warmly!).”

The president-elect mentioned that dignitaries and guests expected to attend will be accommodated inside the Capitol.

ABC News reported that this could be the coldest Inauguration Day in 40 years. Forecasts suggest temperatures below 20 degrees, with wind chill making it feel as low as 5 degrees. The last indoor inauguration was for Ronald Reagan in 1985, when the temperature was 7 degrees, with a wind chill of -25 degrees.

Trump also announced plans to open Capital One Arena for live viewing of the ceremony and the Presidential Parade. “I will join the crowd at Capital One, after my Swearing In,” he said.

In collaboration with the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, Trump’s team is working to address the needs of the tens of thousands who have booked travel for the event.

“All other events will remain the same, including the Victory Rally at Capital One Arena on Sunday at 3 P.M. (Doors open at 1 P.M.), and all three Inaugural Balls on Monday evening,” Trump confirmed.
