President-elect Donald Trump has sharply criticized U.S. leadership, condemning open border policies and what he describes as a failure to address a national security crisis.
In a strongly worded statement on X, Trump accused the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and state and local prosecutors of prioritizing politically motivated investigations against him over protecting Americans.
“Our country is a disaster, a laughing stock all over the world!” Trump declared. He attributed the state of national security to “weak, ineffective, and virtually nonexistent leadership,” claiming that violent elements have infiltrated both the government and the country.
Trump called for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to address what he described as the infiltration of “violent scum” into U.S. government institutions. “The CIA must get involved, NOW, before it is too late,” he said, asserting that its expertise is essential to combat threats overlooked by other federal agencies.
While the CIA’s role traditionally focuses on foreign intelligence, Trump’s call for its involvement in domestic matters raises questions about the agency’s authority and the legality of such actions, as domestic operations are heavily restricted under U.S. law.
Trump linked the crisis to open border policies, which he claimed allow unchecked movement and enable criminal exploitation. He argued these policies strain public resources and undermine national security. “Only strength and powerful leadership will stop it,” he stated, positioning himself as the solution to the challenges he outlined.
He vowed to tackle these issues head-on after his inauguration on January 20, promising to “Make America Great Again.”
Trump’s remarks come amidst heightened political tensions. He accused the DOJ, FBI, and Democrat state and local prosecutors of neglecting their duties, alleging they focus on investigations against him rather than addressing critical national security concerns.
Such rhetoric could further polarize the political landscape, complicating bipartisan efforts on national security. Critics warn that labeling opponents as “scum” and calling for intelligence agencies to step into domestic affairs may erode public trust in government institutions and deepen divisions.
As Trump prepares to assume office, his comments highlight the challenges of addressing immigration, national security, and governance in a deeply divided political climate. His call for strict border controls and enhanced security measures sets the stage for contentious policy debates in the months ahead.
