CNN Republican commentator Scott Jennings sharply criticized Democratic claims that entrepreneur Elon Musk—set to lead the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) alongside Vivek Ramaswamy—is effectively in charge of shaping policy for President-elect Donald Trump’s upcoming second term.
Jennings referenced a Wall Street Journal article, highlighting its acknowledgment of President Joe Biden’s apparent incapacity. He noted that many had long doubted Biden’s active role in governance over the past four years.
🔥@ScottJenningsKY just nuked Democrat narrative about Elon having too much influence over US politics:

“I hear Democrats criticizing the idea that we have unelected people with too much influence over the government,” Jennings said, addressing claims that Elon Musk was dictating the outcome of the recent government shutdown-averting continuing resolution.
“I invite them to pick up the Wall Street Journal from this week and find out that unelected people have been running the government for the last four years,” he continued. Jennings referenced an article detailing concerns from within Biden’s White House, which suggested that the president struggled with tasks like hosting lengthy meetings or large unscripted events without the risk of significant missteps. The article also highlighted doubts about Biden’s decision to seek a second term, with insiders questioning whether he could finish his current term, let alone embark on another.
Jennings also addressed the Democrats’ criticism of Musk’s influence as a billionaire, calling it inconsistent given their own reliance on wealthy benefactors.
“I hear Democrats criticizing the influence of billionaires on our politics, when you’ve got this Soros punk running around collecting Democrat politicians like my kids collect Pokemon cards,” he said. “I think all of the criticism of Musk coming from the left is totally hypocritical, totally over the top, and he is doing something interesting: bringing some transparency to the federal government. It’s not a terrible thing.”
