Over the Weekend, at Least 21 People were Shot in Chicago, Under Mayor Brandon Johnson’s Administration

Over the weekend of February 23-25, 2024, in Mayor Brandon Johnson’s (D) Chicago, at least 21 individuals were shot, with four of them succumbing to their injuries. ABC 7 News reported the first fatal incident occurring around 3:30 p.m. in the 7300 block of North Rogers Avenue, where two men and two women were standing in Pottawattomie Park. Two armed individuals approached and opened fire, tragically killing a 19-year-old woman.

Several hours later, around 7:30 p.m., two adults and a child were fatally shot within a residence located in the 8000 block of South Vincennes Avenue. The police indicated that this fatal incident resulted from an altercation.

According to CBS News, the child who lost his life was identified as Amere P. Deese, aged 14.

Data from a Chicago Sun-Times database reveals that from January 1, 2024, to February 26, 2024, a total of 57 individuals lost their lives in Chicago.
