Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt was direct in his discussion of the ongoing border situation.
“It’s a disaster at the southern border,” Stitt said.
The Governor expressed frustration over the Biden administration’s decision to allow the sale of border wall materials and the dismantling of the “Remain in Mexico” policy. Stitt highlighted that these actions demonstrated a significant lapse in judgment.
The “Remain in Mexico” policy, established by former President Trump, ensured that asylum-seekers remained in Mexico while their claims were processed in the United States.
According to The Oklahoman, Governor Stitt visited Eagle Pass, Texas, near the floating chain of buoys in the Rio Grande on Monday. He met with Texas Governor Greg Abbott and four other Republican state leaders to discuss current border policies.

Stitt’s forceful criticism of the border control actions taken by the Biden administration resonates with numerous voices advocating for stricter border security measures. Notably, even Democrat-led locales like Chicago, New York City, Washington D.C., and Massachusetts are now urging President Biden for immigration support.
Stitt expressed his belief that he was voicing the sentiments of many by stating, “The ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy must be reinstated,” emphasizing that the policy effectively acts as a barrier against the unregulated influx of migrants into the United States.
“In my opinion, if you don’t have a brain, you don’t want to secure the border,” Stitt said.
The governor’s position is evident and resolute. Stitt accused the Biden administration of lacking foresight in its border security strategy. The border policy remains a pivotal matter that is expected to have a considerable influence on the 2024 election. As a result, some Democrats, including New York City Mayor Eric Adams, are taking steps to dissociate themselves from the border policies of the Biden administration.
Fox News shared a segment from a transcript of Stitt’s statement:
“We don’t understand why they keep doubling down on this. The material is already there on the border. Americans want a secure border. And I like to remind people this has nothing to do with proper immigration.
“In Oklahoma, we have a great Hispanic population, and they’ve come here legally, and they’re great contributors to our society. I’ve got great friends. But you don’t have a brain if you don’t think that we should have a secure border.
“The amount of terrorist people on the terrorist watch list that have crossed – we’re creating this mass migration because they know they get released into the U.S. with all of our services as soon as they get there.
“ So that’s the problem. We need to go back to the “Remain in Mexico” policy that we had before President Biden was in office.”
Conservatives have contended that countries that neglect their border security do so at their own risk. Some highlight the ongoing turmoil in France as a direct result of lenient immigration policies.
Provided below is the governor’s remark regarding the border, given on August 16. During an interview on KRMG radio, Stitt asserted that “every state shares a border.”
The border matter is expected to emerge as a significant topic of discussion during the forthcoming GOP primary debates.
