Melania Trump Calls for Answers on Husband’s Assassination Attempt: ‘There’s Definitely More to This Story’

Former First Lady Melania Trump has shared a provocative video questioning law enforcement’s involvement in the July 13 assassination attempt on her husband, Donald Trump.

The 10-second clip, posted on her social media accounts on Tuesday, coincided with the day of Trump’s debate against Democratic opponent Kamala Harris.

In the video, Mrs. Trump, dressed in black and speaking against a dark backdrop with ominous music, described the attack on her husband as “a horrible, distressing experience.”

She then stirred controversy by suggesting that there might be more to the story than what is apparent.

“Now the silence around it feels heavy,” she stated.

“I can’t help but wonder why didn’t law enforcement officials arrest shooter before the speech. There is definitely more to this story. And we need to uncover the truth.”

The video ends with a promotion for Melania Trump’s upcoming memoir, titled “Melania,” set for release on October 1st.

The assassination attempt took place during an outdoor rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The shooter, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, fired from approximately 150 yards away from a nearby building, grazing Trump’s ear and causing it to bleed.

Questions have been raised about how Crooks gained access to the roof and why the Secret Service did not secure the area adequately.

In response, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle admitted the agency’s failure to protect the former president, stating, “The Secret Service’s solemn mission is to protect our nation’s leaders. On July 13th, we failed,” before eventually resigning.

House Republicans have established a task force to investigate the incident, while the Secret Service conducts its own inquiry. Key issues under scrutiny include the coordination between local law enforcement and the Secret Service on that day.

Donald Trump has addressed the impact of the incident in a speech to the Republican National Committee. Melania Trump, who was not at the rally, issued a statement expressing her love for her husband following the attempt on his life.

Mrs. Trump’s upcoming memoir has attracted considerable attention. Available for pre-order on Amazon, the book is offered in two versions: a $150 collector’s edition with 256 full-color pages and an author’s signature, and a standard edition priced at $40, with signed copies available for $75.

This memoir will be the first time Melania Trump shares her personal story, following several unauthorized biographies. Details about potential co-authors or a book tour are still unclear, according to the Daily Mail.

Since leaving the White House in January 2021, the former first lady has kept a low profile. Her role in her husband’s 2024 presidential campaign has been minimal, with appearances at his campaign announcement and the Republican National Convention (RNC), where she did not address the delegates.

Mrs. Trump has not attended any campaign rallies or the first presidential debate, as noted by the Daily Mail. She has also been careful to distance herself from her husband’s legal issues but has hosted two fundraisers for Log Cabin Republicans, a conservative LGBTQ group.

It remains uncertain whether Melania Trump will attend the debate between her husband and Kamala Harris on Tuesday night.
