Vice President Kamala Harris still has not posted any policy details on her website, five weeks after entering the presidential race and a week after the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. As the race moves into its final stretch, Harris’s website features a brief biography and a section on Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, along with options to take action, shop for campaign merchandise, and donate. However, it lacks any policy information. Last week, during the convention, former President Donald Trump’s campaign launched a parody site, kamala2024policies.com, which humorously lists policies based on her previous radical statements.
Her previous policy positions include support for “Medicare for All” and the elimination of private health insurance, endorsement of the “Green New Deal” and a ban on fracking, advocating for open borders and the decriminalization of illegal migration, calls to defund or reduce police funding, backing medical treatments for transgender minors irrespective of parental consent, promoting a ceasefire in Gaza potentially leaving Hamas in power, and supporting abortion on demand until birth. These positions are widely regarded as controversial.
It is assumed that Harris’s policies align with the Democratic Party platform, which was passed unanimously and without amendments at last week’s convention. This platform, which still references President Joe Biden as the party’s candidate and does not mention Kamala Harris, reflects current Biden administration policies.
So far, Harris’s policy proposals have included universally criticized price controls, substantial tax increases potentially reaching $5 trillion, and spending plans that offer $25,000 in down payments for first-time homebuyers, including those who are illegal immigrants.
Harris has offered few additional details and does not respond to press inquiries.
