Hakeem Jeffries Criticized as a ‘Hypocrite’ for Labeling ‘Election Denial’ as a ‘Threat to Democracy.’

Online backlash targets Democrat House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries for condemning “election denial” amid accusations that he and fellow Democrats have engaged in similar behavior for years. Jeffries posted on Sunday, asserting that “election denial is a sickness that is poisoning our democracy” in an X post.

Hailing from central Brooklyn, Jeffries, a former lawyer, identifies as a far-left Democrat and has consistently rejected the results of the 2016 election. Research from the Republican National Committee, revealed by Breitbart News in 2022, indicates that he questioned the integrity of American elections over 100 times, prompting users to quickly highlight Jeffries’ perceived “hypocrisy.”

“This you?” asked the official Libs of TikTok account, sharing a post in which Jeffries denies former President Donald Trump’s right to the presidency:

“Election fraud denial is the real sickness,” conservative influencer Rogan O’Handley said, adding, “And Truth is the cure”:

A user shared a compilation showcasing instances of Jeffries refuting Trump’s legitimacy as the president.

“Apparently, @RepJeffries doesn’t know that the internet is forever,” another user wrote:

“Well this is awkward,” another wrote:

Several individuals highlighted various occasions where Democrats rejected election outcomes.

“Communist Notes: The Democratic Party objected to the presidential election results in 2000, 2004, and 2016,” independent journalist Kyle Becker wrote:

“Here’s your progressive [colleague] trying to deny certification of an election,” conservative talk host Jason Rantz wrote:

Attorney and influencer David Freiheit cited multiple cases of Democrats rejecting election results.

“Mr Hypocrite!!” one X user commented:

Jeffries has made numerous statements denying the legitimacy of Trump’s presidency.

In 2020, Jeffries wrote that the former  president “will never” be accepted “as a legitimate President.”

“Keep pouting. History will never accept you as a legitimate President,” he wrote to Trump:

He again wrote in 2020, “Let’s be clear donald. The only person trying to steal the election is YOU. (and your buddies in the Kremlin),” citing a false claim that Trump won the White House because of Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

“The more we learn about 2016 election the more ILLEGITIMATE it becomes. America deserves to know whether we have a FAKE President in the Oval Office #RussianInterference,” he wrote in 2018:

In 2018, Jeffries asserted that two Supreme Court seats were taken due to Trump’s presidency, during which he appointed justices. He expressed his viewpoint, stating, “LIE (more than any administration in the history of the Republic.) CHEAT (2016 election/Russian Interference). STEAL (one or two Supreme Court seats).” Jeffries urged Republicans to prioritize country over party, concluding with #CleanUpCorruption.

In 2017, he labeled President Trump’s election as “tainted” and asserted that the “real hoax is likely your so-called election victory.”

Earlier, he commented on Trump’s “rigged election.”

“In 2016, he posted, “Fake News + Voter Suppression + FBI Letter = Rigged Election? Who knew Donald Trump may have predicted his own #LostPopularVote presidency.”

In 2022, he alleged that “right-wing extremists” were “publicly plotting to steal the next Presidential election.” Despite his persistent election denial, the mainstream media appears largely uninterested.
