Former Fox News Host Denounces Trump and Rejects MAGA Beliefs in Blistering X Post

Former Fox News host Geraldo Rivera has publicly rejected Donald Trump and renounced his earlier support for the MAGA movement.

Rivera, a seasoned journalist who was with Fox from 2001 to 2023, expressed his harsh criticism of the former president in a post on X.

“Former President Trump is a sore loser who cannot be trusted to honor the Constitution,” Rivera declared in his post.

The 81-year-old commentator revealed his plans to vote for Kamala Harris in the upcoming presidential election, reflecting a significant change in his political views.

Rivera recounted a phone call with Trump in November 2020, shortly after Joe Biden’s electoral win.

He stated that Trump had promised to accept the election results if needed, but the journalist voiced his profound disappointment in Trump’s later actions.

“Instead, President Trump embarked on an increasingly menacing campaign to discredit the 2020 election,” Rivera wrote.

He accused Trump of pressuring millions of supporters to embrace the false narrative of a stolen election.

The former talk show host was direct in his remarks to fellow Republicans.

“If you are a Republican, Donald Trump has made a liar of you,” he stated bluntly; a claim that was also recently parroted by billionaire Mark Cuban.

Rivera continued to condemn Trump’s involvement in the January 6, 2021, events, accusing him of inciting violence at the Capitol.

“As his followers trashed that sacred space, he was on the phone urging Vice President Mike Pence essentially to overturn the will of the American people,” Rivera alleged.

He commended then-Vice President Mike Pence for choosing the Constitution over Trump.

Rivera’s relationship with Trump has changed significantly.

He once regarded Trump as a friend and even offered some support during his presidency, according to the Daily Mail.

However, the events following the 2020 election represented a turning point in their relationship.

The journalist has grown more outspoken in his criticism of Trump, especially concerning the former president’s statements on immigration.

The Daily Mail noted that Rivera condemned Trump’s recent remark about migrants “poisoning the blood of our country” as “disgusting” and akin to Nazi-era propaganda.

“It harkens back to the mid 19th century, when the Irish immigrants were accused of bringing all sorts of diseases from Europe to the United States,” Rivera explained in a video post.

He compared historical anti-immigrant sentiments to Trump’s current rhetoric.

Rivera’s position highlights the ongoing divisions within the Republican Party.

His choice to support Harris emphasizes the depth of his disillusionment with Trump and the MAGA movement.
