Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of Tesla and SpaceX, told Dr. Jordan B. Peterson that he was “tricked into” allowing one of his sons to undergo gender procedures, stating that his child was “killed” by the “woke mind virus.”
Musk joined Peterson for an interview covering various topics, including the impact of gender ideology on children, streamed on DailyWire+ and X. During the discussion, both men condemned the practice of gender procedures on minors as “evil.” Musk criticized the term “gender-affirming care,” calling it “a terrible euphemism.”
“It’s really child mutilation and sterilization,” Musk said. “It’s evil. You’re taking kids who are far below the age of consent.”
“It’s very possible for adults to manipulate children who are having an actual identity crisis into believing that they are the wrong gender,” he added.
Peterson asked Musk why he was so committed to addressing this issue, prompting the billionaire to share a personal story about his son, Xavier, who experienced gender dysphoria and now identifies as a girl.
“Well, it happened to one of my older boys,” Musk replied. “I was essentially tricked into signing documents for Xavier. This was really before I understood what was happening. With COVID going on, there was a lot of confusion, and I was told Xavier might commit suicide.”

“I was tricked into doing this… the people promoting this should go to prison,” Musk said.
“That was a lie right from the outset,” Peterson responded. “No reliable clinician ever believed that. There was never any evidence for that, and if there is a higher suicide rate, it’s due to underlying depression and anxiety, not gender dysphoria. Every clinician knows that, but they’re too cowardly to say it.”
“It’s incredibly evil,” Musk agreed. “And I think the people promoting this should go to prison.”
“I wasn’t told that puberty blockers are essentially sterilization drugs,” he continued. “I lost my son, essentially. They call it ‘deadnaming’ for a reason—because your son is dead. My son, Xavier, is dead, killed by the woke mind virus.”
“I’m sorry to hear that. I can’t imagine what that would be like,” Peterson said.
“So I vowed to destroy the woke mind virus after that,” Musk concluded. “And we’re making some progress.”
