On Sunday, Elon Musk’s X Corporation grabbed attention by declaring its intention to fund the legal fees of a Canadian physician entangled in a legal dispute with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario due to her public opposition to the Covid mandates implemented by the Trudeau administration. X Corporation vowed to cover the outstanding $300,000 judgment confronting Dr. Kulvinder Kaur Gill, affirming its dedication to safeguarding her right to express her views.
The corporation underscored the significance of free speech as a fundamental aspect of democracy and a crucial bulwark against any manifestation of totalitarianism.
“X is proud to help defend Dr. Kulvinder Kaur Gill against the government-supported efforts to cancel her speech,” X lamented in a post Sunday. “@dockaurG is a practicing physician in Canada, specializing in immunology and pediatrics. Because she spoke out publicly on Twitter (now X) in opposition to the Canadian and Ontario governments’ COVID lockdown efforts and vaccination mandates, she was harassed by the legacy media, censored by prior Twitter management, and subjected to investigations and disciplinary proceedings by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario that resulted in ‘cautions’ being placed on her permanent public record.”
“The legal battles that ensued cost Dr. Gill her life savings, and she now owes $300,000 in a court judgment due Monday. When Elon Musk learned earlier this week about her crowdfunding campaign to pay the judgment … he pledged to help,” the statement continued.

Dr. Gill, a physician residing in Brampton, Ontario, sought assistance from GiveSendGo.com to cover her $300,000 legal fees. Her cause has garnered support from a coalition of backers, including fellow medical professionals, who have amassed over $195,000 thus far.
In 2020, Dr. Gill, alongside co-plaintiff Dr. Ashvinder Kaur Lamba, initiated legal action against various parties, including journalists and physicians, seeking approximately $12 million in damages for defamation, conspiracy, and negligence. The lawsuit originated from accusations of defamation directed at Dr. Gill due to her unconventional perspectives on the Covid-19 pandemic, which include skepticism regarding the necessity of vaccines and advocating for a return to normalcy amidst lockdown measures.
Upon learning of Dr. Gill’s crowdfunding initiative, Elon Musk personally intervened, offering to cover the remaining expenses of her legal battle. Musk, who had previously committed to financing legal challenges for individuals encountering workplace repercussions due to their Twitter activity prior to his acquisition of the platform, reaffirmed his dedication by echoing his company’s statement on X, declaring, “In support of your right to speak.”
