Elon Musk Raises Alarm Over Harris’s Controversial ‘Pathway to Citizenship’ Promise for Illegal Immigrants

Vice President Kamala Harris has launched her much-anticipated campaign website, which prominently highlights her commitment to create an “earned pathway to citizenship” for undocumented migrants.

This significant announcement came right before Harris’s high-profile presidential debate with Trump on Tuesday night.

Elon Musk, along with several other influential figures, has raised concerns about this proposal.

He has accused the Democratic Party of seeking to offer mass amnesty to illegal immigrants to increase votes for their candidates, a claim he has consistently reiterated.

Musk argues that legalizing approximately “15 million illegal migrants,” along with “bringing in tens of millions more,” would “immediately turn all swing states deep blue.”

This, he contends, would lead to “America becoming a permanent one-party state.”

He referenced California’s 1986 amnesty initiative to support his argument.

The vice president’s website, which launched on Sunday after a significant delay, has already faced criticism for its perceived lack of detail. Yet, it is Harris’ immigration policy that has truly sparked debate in Washington and beyond.

The site asserts, “She knows that our immigration system is broken and requires comprehensive reform that includes robust border security and an earned pathway to citizenship,” reflecting a long-standing Democratic stance on immigration.

The New York Post notes that this proposal sharply contrasts with Trump’s hardline approach, who has pledged to implement a large-scale deportation effort against illegal migrants if re-elected.

This stark contrast in immigration policies is likely to make it a major issue in the upcoming election.

Additionally, Musk commented on a report via X, which revealed that Denver, Colorado used COVID funds to house thousands of illegal immigrants in shelters.

“This will keep getting worse until the politicians responsible are voted out of office,” Musk said.

Critics have quickly targeted Harris’ website, claiming it lacks fresh ideas to address the ongoing border crisis.

Instead, the vice president’s platform mainly focuses on reinstating a previously proposed bipartisan Senate bill.

The website declares, “As President, she will revive the bipartisan border security bill and sign it into law,” but does not provide details on any additional measures.

Senator JD Vance of Ohio, Trump’s running mate, sharply criticized Harris’ proposal, warning that granting citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants would serve as a “gigantic magnet” for increased illegal immigration, according to the Post.

The outlet also highlighted that Harris’ call for a pathway to citizenship is not new.

She has consistently supported this approach, even as she managed unprecedented numbers of migrant crossings in her role as the White House’s “border czar.”

Harris reaffirmed this position during the Democratic National Convention and in earlier public statements this year.

Despite criticisms of her record on border management, her campaign is working to present her as strong on border security.

Her website emphasizes her experience as California’s Attorney General, showcasing her efforts to combat “international drug gangs, human traffickers, and cartels involved in smuggling guns, drugs, and people across the U.S.-Mexico border.”
