Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, revealed at a town hall in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, that he will donate $1 million daily to a randomly chosen individual from the state who has signed the America PAC petition.
“So, I have a surprise for you, which is that we’re going to be awarding a million dollars randomly to people who have signed the petition every day from now until the election,” Musk said at the town hall.
The billionaire went on to discuss the challenges of raising awareness about the petition, stating that “legacy media refuses to cover it.”
“This news, I think, is gonna really fly,” Musk added.
Musk announced that his America PAC would offer $47 to anyone who refers a registered swing-state voter to sign a petition in support of the First and Second Amendments. The referral payment in Pennsylvania was already raised from $47 to $100, and Musk has made several appearances on the campaign trail for former President Donald Trump.
To the surprise of the cheering crowd, Musk revealed that the first $1 million would be given away immediately. A man holding an oversized check walked onto the stage, and Musk announced the name of the lucky winner. Wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat, the recipient was invited on stage to claim the prize.
“You’re welcome,” Musk said jokingly.
According to NBC News, this initiative appears to be a way to circumvent certain election laws that prohibit paying individuals to vote by instead encouraging supporters of the Constitution to refer like-minded people to register in key swing states.
The voter registration deadline in Pennsylvania is October 21.
