Disney has unveiled a new “inside look” at its live-action adaptation of Snow White, following significant criticism of the original trailer. According to third-party sources, the trailer has accumulated over 800,000 dislikes, compared to an estimated 33,000 likes.
The updated preview, which includes a snippet of Pasek and Paul’s original song, Waiting on a Wish, performed by lead actress Rachel Zegler, was released as negative responses to the earlier trailer continue to rise. Dislike counts are hidden on YouTube, but estimates suggest the initial trailer garnered 1.4 million dislikes.
Much of the criticism centers around Zegler’s casting and her remarks about the original Snow White story, as well as her divisive political statements. Fans have praised Gal Gadot, who plays the Evil Queen, with many suggesting the villain is more captivating than the protagonist.
Comments on the new footage reflect this sentiment:
“The only way to get people on your side, Disney, is to let Gal Gadot win.”
“If the Evil Queen doesn’t win, we riot.”
“Gal Gadot is 100 times better than Rachel Zegler.”
Fans have also criticized the CGI depiction of the seven dwarves, with some calling it “nightmare fuel.” One commenter remarked, “This movie is going to bomb so hard it’ll make the Hindenburg look like a small campfire.” Reports suggest that Disney initially planned to use live-action actors for the dwarves, but the idea was abandoned after leaked images of a diverse cast drew ridicule online.
Disney’s Snow White is set to release on March 21.
