Burger King staff member Kevin Ford is said to have worked diligently for 27 consecutive years without taking a single day off.
In a popular TikTok video, Mr. Ford revealed that he maintained perfect attendance at the McCarran International Airport Burger King, where he held roles as both a cashier and a cook.
A video showcasing Ford at the Burger King outlet gained widespread attention last year, prompting disbelief among viewers when it was revealed that the company’s acknowledgement of his remarkable achievement consisted of candy, a movie ticket, and a Starbucks cup.
The healthcare benefits tied to his employment played a crucial role in supporting his family, enabling his four daughters to pursue their educational aspirations.
Motivated by the feeling that her father’s dedication had not been adequately recognized, Ford’s daughter, Seryna, took the initiative to launch a GoFundMe campaign.
“The man in that video is my father,” his daughter Seryna wrote in the campaign description. “He has worked at his job for 27 years and yes, he has never missed a day of work.”
“He originally began working at this job as a single father when he gained custody of me and my older sister 27 years ago,” she continued. “Then as our family grew and he remarried, he continued to work there because of the amazing health insurance that was provided through this employer because it was unionized.”
Ford’s daughter mentioned that she and her three sisters enjoyed comprehensive healthcare coverage until their college education was completed, courtesy of the union benefits provided by her father.
“My dad continues to work there, because though he does look young, he is coming up on retirement age and leaving would cost him his retirement.” she added.
“In no way are we asking for money or is he expecting any money but if anyone feels like blessing him he would love to visit his grandchildren.”
By Sunday morning, nearly 14,000 people have donated a total of $414,000. Ford made the decision to increase the campaign’s target after swiftly surpassing the initial goal, prompted by suggestions from those who recommended raising it.
The primary aim of this endeavor was to grant Ford a much-needed respite, affording him the opportunity to dedicate time to his grandchildren.
Numerous individual contributions poignantly reflected Ford’s 27 years of dedicated service, often coming in the form of $27 donations.
Significant contributions also came from notable figures such as comedian David Spade, who graciously contributed $5,000.
