In a political shift, the pro-Palestinian group Abandon Biden has announced it will redirect its efforts to prevent Vice President Kamala Harris from winning in November.
While still officially operating as “Abandon Biden,” the group has stated that its “mission is now laser-focused on exposing and opposing Kamala Harris and her complicity in genocide.”
On X, the group issued a statement detailing their reasons for opposing Harris and criticizing the Democratic National Convention (DNC).
“On Monday, August 19th, the Abandon Biden campaign declared that we are now mobilizing under the banner of ‘Abandon Harris.’ While we will keep the registered name of Abandon Biden, our mission is now laser-focused on exposing and opposing Kamala Harris and her complicity in genocide,” the statement began.
“We call on all people of conscience to join us in holding the Democratic Party accountable for the bloodshed in Gaza,” it continued.
The pro-Palestinian group then delivered a sharp criticism of the DNC for its pro-Israel stance.
“The DNC’s recent actions have only confirmed what we’ve been saying all along: the Democratic Party has no interest in ending the genocide in Gaza. They are not mere bystanders; they are active participants in this brutal, unforgivable violence,” the group wrote.
The statement went on to assert that the Biden administration has financed the “nightmare” unfolding in Gaza.
“For 11 months, we’ve woken up to the nightmare of Palestinians being torn apart by U.S.-funded and supplied weapons, with the full backing of the Biden-Harris administration. This administration has shown nothing but contempt for human life, and Harris is no different,” the group asserted.
“Let’s be clear: appealing to the conscience of the Democratic Party is a waste of time,” it added. “They have no conscience. They have no moral compass. There is only one path forward: abandon the party of genocide and ethnic cleansing. Stand up for dignity, integrity and humanity—because they won’t.”
The group’s statement concluded by affirming its goal to see Harris defeated in November.
“This is a moment that demands anger, resolve, and unbreakable commitment,” the group said. “Our commitment is to ensure that Kamala Harris loses the 2024 election and to make it clear that anyone who runs on a platform of genocide will be condemned to failure.”

Breitbart News reported that the statement follows a protest outside the DNC in Chicago, where thousands of anti-Israel demonstrators voiced their opposition to Harris.
Independent presidential candidate Cornel West was among the protesters, carrying signs that read “Abandon Harris.”
West expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people and stated that he would not support politicians who do not oppose “genocide.”
“It’s for the country and the world,” West said, referring to his sign. “But in my interpretation, it means those of us who have a deep love of previous Palestinian people in solidarity with their struggle against vicious genocide and ethnic cleansing and apartheid-like conditions.”
“It means any politician who does not speak against that genocide will not receive any support,” he added.
