A Tennessee grand jury has indicted Christopher Robert Stanford, the District Attorney General for the 31st Judicial District, for allegedly firing shots during a fugitive pursuit that struck a home occupied by a woman and her three children, state officials announced.
On Monday, the DeKalb County grand jury charged Stanford with one count of reckless endangerment, according to a press release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).
The TBI stated, “During the pursuit of a wanted fugitive, Stanford discharged his firearm multiple times on Bell Street in Smithville, hitting a home where a woman and her three children were present.”
The indictment, obtained by Fox News Digital, claims Stanford “unlawfully, intentionally, and recklessly” fired his gun, with bullets striking a chair on the front porch and penetrating the living room wall, endangering the occupants. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The fugitive, Caleb Brookins, is a suspect in a triple homicide that occurred on November 20 in Warren County, Tennessee. The incident involving Stanford took place on November 21 during Brookins’ apprehension on outstanding warrants.
Bryant Dunaway, the District Attorney for the 13th Judicial District, stated the pursuit was connected to Hannah Rose, who is accused of aiding Brookins’ escape by driving him in a vehicle.
