“President Biden Highlights Gun Control Achievements on Sandy Hook Anniversary Amid Declining Popularity”

In the final stretch of his presidency, President Joe Biden has been calling early press lids with increasing frequency. However, before departing for a weekend break, he issued a press release marking the 12th anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, expressing pride in his achievements on gun control legislation.

President Biden marked the 12th anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Connecticut on Saturday with a fresh pitch for Congress to act on gun reform legislation.

Biden in a press release touted his administration’s efforts to combat gun violence but argued that there was more to be done — especially as his presidency enters the final stretch.

Good luck with that. In 2022, following the tragic school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, Biden pushed through his so-called “gun safety” legislation. The law claimed to enhance background checks for gun buyers aged 18-21, criminalize straw purchases of firearms, and “clarify” the definition of a licensed firearm dealer. In reality, it introduced more unenforced regulations, which seem even less likely to matter as his presidency winds down. Biden boldly asserted that his efforts on gun safety have made the country safer and reduced school shootings—a claim many find questionable.

“After four years under my administration, homicides are down, crime is falling, and we are seeing fewer mass shootings. This progress is no accident,” he continued. “Still, more must be done.”

“Congress has an obligation to ‘do something’ in order to protect our children and communities from this scourge of gun violence,” the president wrote. “We are the only nation experiencing this epidemic and there are common sense policies that the majority of Americans agree with, and that Congress can easily take action on.”

Really? This year alone has seen 38 school shootings, including many in states with strict gun laws, such as Illinois and California. Biden has also ignored the underlying issues driving these tragedies during his presidency, such as the case of transgender shooter Audrey Hale at the Tennessee Covenant Christian School or the pro-Palestine extremist who killed two kindergarteners at a Christian school in Sacramento. Notice a pattern? It’s not about the gun laws. Yet, Biden remains fixated on using the past to support his claim that his gun control legislation will define his presidency.

“Jill and I still grieve this unimaginable loss and continue to pray for the victims’ families and others traumatized by this senseless violence,” he wrote. “Many individuals impacted by the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School have turned their pain into purpose.”

“The legacy of this tragedy is one of great loss — but also hope,” he added. “Twelve years ago, moms sitting at their kitchen counters went online, expressed their outrage, and organized for commonsense gun safety legislation.”

Sure, Moms Demand Action—bankrolled by Michael Bloomberg—has been incredibly ineffective in their efforts to recruit new legislators to push their agenda.

I just told the anti-Constitution lobbyists to leave Kentucky alone

Moms Demand Action is a dark money, anti-liberty organization.

Their questionnaire makes you sign a loyalty oath to oppose the Second, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Amendments.

They want to leave you defenseless. I refuse to surrender your constitutional rights, so this is what I sent back to these gun grabbers.

The special interests are going to come after me for standing up for your Constitutional rights, so I am asking for your help!

Alex Jones, who became a controversial figure due to his reckless commentary on the Sandy Hook shooting, remains active and is now countersuing the parents. If anything, this 12th anniversary highlights the diminishing impact of gun control policies and the symbolism used to promote them—much like the relevance of Biden’s rhetoric.

Since 2022, 29 out of 50 states have adopted Constitutional Carry laws, and President-elect Donald Trump has pledged to sign concealed carry reciprocity legislation if elected. As it stands, Biden’s aspirations for further gun control legislation remain little more than wishful thinking. Yet, he continues to act as though he holds influence over federal policy, a notion his handlers seem content to indulge.

In his latest pitch, he listed universal background checks, red flag laws, safe storage requirements and bans on assault weapons — like the one used in the Sandy Hook shooting — as first steps.

The remarks come nearly three months after Biden signed an executive order focused on gun violence prevention. Under the order, the administration aimed to crack down on 3D printed firearms — such as the ghost gun used in the recent fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson — and to improve active shooter drills at schools across the nation.

With just 36 days left until January 20, Biden and his team seem to be grasping at straws, trying anything to leave a mark. It appears they need to fill their time somehow, given that running the country hasn’t exactly been a top priority. Just another typical day.
