President-elect Donald Trump has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the White House, allowing his transition team to coordinate with federal departments and agencies in preparation for the January transfer of power.
Susie Wiles, Trump’s incoming chief of staff, announced the agreement on Tuesday, noting that it was signed with “President Joe Biden’s White House.”
“This agreement enables our prospective Cabinet nominees to begin essential preparations, including deploying landing teams to every department and agency, ensuring a smooth and orderly transition of power,” Wiles said in a statement.
The Trump transition team plans to send landing teams to federal agencies to access documents and policy-sharing processes. The team has pledged transparency, stating that the members of these teams will be identified to the Biden administration.
Wiles also emphasized that taxpayer funds and government buildings provided by the General Services Administration (GSA) will not be used for the transition.
However, the transition has yet to disclose its donors, raising questions about its funding sources. Wiles assured that foreign contributions will not be accepted and promised to eventually disclose the identities of donors.
