Former President Donald Trump proclaimed that a “golden age” for America would begin after early Wednesday projections showed him defeating Vice President Kamala Harris and reclaiming the White House.
Addressing supporters in West Palm Beach, Florida, Trump highlighted his victories in key battleground states, including Georgia, North Carolina, Nevada, and Pennsylvania, and pledged to implement “common sense” policies in his new term. He also celebrated GOP successes in congressional races, noting that Republicans secured control of the Senate with at least a 51-49 majority.
“America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate,” Trump said. “This will forever be remembered as the day the American people regained control of their country.”
Trump praised his supporters for having “accomplished the most incredible political feat,” and vowed to boost energy production, secure the border, and prioritize peace in foreign policy.
In his speech, he expressed gratitude to his family and a diverse array of prominent backers, including UFC CEO Dana White, podcast host Joe Rogan, Elon Musk, pro-golfer Bryson DeChambeau, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
“Many people have told me that God spared my life for a reason, and that reason was to save our country and to restore America to greatness,” Trump said, referencing his near assassination in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a bullet struck his ear. “And now we are going to fulfill that mission together.”
“I will fight for you, for your family and your future every single day,” he added. “I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body. I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve. This will truly be the golden age of America.”
In his speech, Trump commended his running mate, Senator JD Vance (R-OH), who had briefly addressed the crowd in West Palm Beach beforehand.
“We just witnessed the greatest political comeback in the history of the United States of America,” he said.
