On October 3, Elon Musk announced he will attend former President Donald Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
“I will be there to support!” Musk posted on X, the social media platform he largely owns.
Trump’s rally is set for Saturday at the Butler Farm Show, the site where he was shot at during an event in July.
Authorities report that Thomas Crooks, who was fatally shot by a U.S. Secret Service agent, attempted to assassinate Trump.
About 30 minutes later, Musk posted a video showing Trump rising and raising a fist after surviving the assassination attempt, expressing his endorsement for the former president.
“I fully endorse President Trump and wish for his quick recovery,” Musk wrote at the time. “The martyr lived. The last time America had a candidate this tough was Theodore Roosevelt,” he added in a follow-up.
The business mogul, also the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, stated in another Thursday post that supporting Trump is “essential to saving America!”
Musk frequently shares posts that favor Trump and Republicans while criticizing Vice President Kamala Harris and Democratic Party members.
Trump welcomed Musk’s endorsement, mentioning in a September speech that, if elected, he would establish a government efficiency commission based on Musk’s recommendations to improve operations.
Details regarding the security measures for Trump’s upcoming rally in Butler have not been made public, but the U.S. Secret Service has confirmed its readiness.
A spokesperson informed The Epoch Times that the agency has implemented “comprehensive changes and enhancements to our communications capabilities, resourcing, and protective operations” since the assassination attempt, indicating that Trump is under increased protection.
The agency has previously stated that Trump is receiving the same level of security as President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris following Crooks’ attack and another apparent attempt at a golf course in Florida.
“Regarding the October 5th event in Butler, PA, we are coordinating closely with the Pennsylvania State Police as well as local law enforcement in and around Butler Township. We are also leveraging other federal security resources to expand personnel and technology,” the spokesman said.
“To maintain the integrity of our protective operations, we cannot go into the specifics regarding the security enhancements. Residents in the area should expect traffic delays and an increased presence of state, local, and federal law enforcement as part of our efforts to ensure a safe and secure event.”
Trump told NewsNation this week that he’s “always worried” about safety at rallies and that “we have to get better security.”
