Forgiving those in power who have caused harm to American citizens in recent years will require significant reflection and prayer.
In the meantime, this moment calls for acts of generosity, which, through God’s infinite wisdom, can guide us toward forgiveness.
On Monday, former President Donald Trump launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist victims of Hurricane Helene. By early Tuesday morning, the campaign had already raised over $1.9 million, well beyond its initial goal of $1 million.
Earlier on Monday, Trump visited Valdosta, Georgia, drawing national attention to the disaster affecting the Southeast.
Additionally, he came prepared.
“Today I have come to Valdosta with large semi-trucks, many of them, filled with relief aid and a tanker truck filled up with gasoline. We have a couple of the big tanker trucks filled up with gasoline, which they can’t get now,” Trump said in a clip posted to the social media platform X.

Trump provided those supplies to Franklin Graham’s Samaritan’s Purse relief organization.
Here’s a clip of the former president interacting with the organization’s volunteers:

Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida late Thursday evening. Although it has since been downgraded to a tropical storm, the destruction remains catastrophic.
By Saturday, reports revealed significant damage and tragic loss of life throughout the Southeast and southern Appalachia, especially in western North Carolina, where severe flooding and landslides washed away roads and left some areas cut off from access.
Days later, the receding floodwaters in Asheville, North Carolina, have finally uncovered the full extent of the damage.
Meanwhile, President Joe Biden, after initially claiming that the federal government had done all it could, eventually took a break from his vacation to address the disaster on Monday afternoon.
After his statement, Biden appeared annoyed when a reporter asked why he chose to stay on vacation over the weekend.
In a nearly three-minute clip shared on X, Laura Ingraham from Fox News emphasized the insufficient responses to Helene from both the irritable Biden and the absent Vice President Kamala Harris.
Laura Ingram did a great job summarizing the response from Biden/Harris versus the response from Donald Trump.

I mean, the difference couldn’t be more stark.
I have truly never seen such callous incompetence and disregard for the American people as I have witnessed during the… pic.twitter.com/QML2IZdWx4
We have witnessed this scenario repeatedly over the past four years.
Biden and Harris have consistently demonstrated that they do not prioritize American citizens. The residents of Maui, East Palestine, and now the Southeast have learned this firsthand, as have the courageous individuals who lost their lives during the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan under the Biden administration. Additionally, Americans in communities overwhelmed by violent illegal immigrants have felt the impact.
However, as Trump has shown through his strong leadership, we must find a way to set aside these betrayals for now and concentrate on providing relief to those in need.
