Kellyanne Conway, a former political consultant for President Donald Trump, recently authored an op-ed offering behind-the-scenes perspectives on the 2024 race. In the piece, she also tackled rumors of a “breakdown” within the Republican Party.

Last week, Conway explained that the race has tightened significantly between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. She observed that, with early voting just days away, Trump seems to hold an advantage despite unprecedented challenges.
Conway highlighted the remarkable resilience of Trump’s campaign. Following an assassination attempt and a successful Republican National Convention (RNC), his poll numbers surged. Despite some suggestions to overhaul his campaign team, Trump has remained resolute, even reinstating former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.
“Many people want to join the campaign for the final push… We want as many as we can get!” Trump declared on Truth Social, demonstrating his confidence in his team and strategy.

Conway observed that Harris is struggling to distance herself from the unpopular policies of the Biden administration.
Although she is positioning herself as the underdog, critics argue that her San Francisco background and perceived radical agenda may alienate swing voters who preferred Biden’s centrist image.
Conway noted that this poses a significant challenge for Harris on policy issues. Additionally, Trump’s team has been quick to highlight that Harris was the “last person in the room” before the chaotic Afghanistan withdrawal and the “deciding vote” on the Inflation Reduction Act, which many believe has not met expectations.

Trump’s campaign is emphasizing his record in office, highlighting accomplishments such as energy independence, trade deal renegotiations, and enhanced border security. They contend that voters favor Trump’s strength and “commonsense fairness” over what they describe as the current administration’s “wokeness” and weakness.
Despite this, the race remains close. Conway pointed out that some media outlets have suggested a “breakdown” in the Trump campaign, but she countered these claims by asserting that the Republican is “in control and command.”
“I know because in our weekly phone calls and during regular visits, I detect the same energy, alacrity and winning focus that I’ve witnessed by his side for years,” she said.
“First as his final 2016 campaign manager and later serving as a senior counselor in his White House.”
Conway penned that the “fighting spirit” the world saw following Trump’s near-assasination was “real;” that’s him both behind and in front of the camera.
“Meanwhile, nobody’s talking about the Democrats’ own internal breakdown,” Conway added, highlighting the party’s recent replacement of Biden for Harris.
Conway noted that although Harris has a slight national lead according to the latest RealClearPolitics average, pollsters caution that the outcome remains uncertain.
As both campaigns enter the final stretch, each candidate is honing their messages in preparation for Tuesday night’s crucial debate. Trump is anticipated to emphasize policy differences and his track record, while Harris aims to present herself as a new alternative to both Biden and Trump.
Here's what I am thinking.

We host a Presidential Debate next month on X and invite both Trump and Harris.
If Harris doesn't show up, we'll just do a video town hall with me and Trump. If she does, we'll have a debate.

With two months remaining until Election Day, it is clear that this unprecedented race is still very much in play.
