Montana Republican Senate candidate Tim Sheehy has established a six-point lead over Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT), according to a recent poll showing Sheehy’s stronger trust on key issues.
The American Pulse Poll, conducted for NonStop Local, reveals that 51 percent of registered voters support Sheehy, putting him ahead of Tester, who has 45 percent support. An additional four percent of voters are undecided.
The poll, conducted from August 10-12 following Trump’s rally in Bozeman on August 9, shows that Sheehy spoke at the event with the former president.
Regarding major issues, 28 percent of respondents prioritize “inflation, economy, [and] jobs,” while affordable housing is second at 15 percent, and immigration and the border follow at 14 percent.
Sheehy leads Tester on immigration by 17 percentage points, on the economy by 9 percentage points, and on abortion by 2 percentage points.
Additionally, voters feel their values align more with Sheehy by a 7 percent margin and believe Sheehy would be a “better leader for Montana” by a 6 percentage point margin.
“While there’s still a lot of time before Election Day, it appears Montana could be on the cusp of delivering a Republican Majority in the U.S. Senate,” stated American Pulse Research & Polling President Dustin Olson in a release.
“Likely driving this result, Montanans chose ‘Economy and Inflation’ as their #1 Issue and that they trust Tim Sheehy to handle it better than Senator Jon Tester,” he added.
The poll also assessed the presidential race in Montana, showing Trump with a solid 14-point lead over Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump is backed by 52 percent of respondents, while Harris has 38 percent. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. trails with 6 percent, and no other candidate surpasses 5 percent.
The margin of error for the poll is ± 4.2 percentage points.
